Technical FAQ

Answers to common structural engineering queries.

What are the common signs that a building needs structural repair?

Common indicators include visible cracks in columns or beams, spalling of concrete (chunks falling off), rusted reinforcement bars, dampness in the ceiling, and tilting of balconies. Our NDT testing can confirm the severity.

What is Column Jacketing and when is it required?

Column jacketing is a process of strengthening an existing pillar by encasing it in a new layer of micro-concrete or steel. It is required when the original column loses its load-bearing capacity due to age, corrosion, or additional floors.

How long does a typical structural restoration project take?

The duration depends on the building's size and the extent of damage. A standard wing repair can take 4-8 months. We provide a detailed project timeline after the initial structural audit.

Do you provide a warranty for waterproofing and structural work?

Yes, SA TECH provides a performance warranty of up to 10 years on structural repairs and specialized waterproofing, backed by material test certificates from brands like Sika and Fosroc.

Is it safe to stay in the building during the repair process?

In 95% of cases, yes. We use specialized propping (supporting) systems to ensure the building remains stable while we work on individual columns or beams. Safety of residents is our top priority.
